You can also see it is reversed because if not it would cover the XLR cable ports. You can also see the other screw (inner hole) requires the opposite, a really small allen key or the short end of one. In another you can see the screw location for the top handle requires a long allen key/hex screw driver. In one of my attached phots I point to where the SDI cannot fit due to being blocked by the extension arm when in a center or near-center position (ideal position). And I even have a 90-degree angled one which minimizes this and it still sort-of blocks it or presses up against it when you want the hand piece in a centered or near-centered (again, usually the ideal) place. To put in centered in an ideal place (in most handheld and shoulder mounted situations), it actually blocks the front SDI cable. It cover's the ports!Īnother flaw is on the extension arm. You can see in my pic I have this backwards too, that is because unless it is backwards there is NO WAY to plug in the XLR audio cables. Whatever is in place to block it does not hold up very well when you are screwing it in with your cameraman strength.
Another serious flaw with this top handle is that you can actually keep screwing THROUGH the bottom to the point it breaks and pushes the rubber beneath out, destroying the grip.
Consider your Hex key set useless, you'll have to make sure you have a long hex screwdriver/allen key for the front screw (one closer to the edge) as you need to stick the hex screw driver in between a little slit on the angled part of the top handle. The top handle is great to use, however screwing it in is another design flaw. Using the flip-out monitor, it is 2 inches from your eyeballs.� With the monitor flipped out it is basically unusable - you HAVE to use another monitor mounted to the ursa in order to use this. For being a shoulder mount designed specifically for the Ursa Mini/Pro, it's beyond me why it is so short. While I've gotten used to holding this handheld up against my chest/abdomen, I really find it uncomfortable mounted on the shoulder. I own this and use it all the time (because I already dropped the money and it's past my return date).
